"Segway out of victimhood and into SHERO-hood and thrive; we can send a powerful message to abusers and attackers around the world."
~ Dawn Burnett
Brace yourself for another shocking SHERO journey! My amazing guest today, Dawn Burnett, is a pillar of strength combined with conviction and passion to empower women of domestic violence. Dawn’s diverse dossier includes author, speaker, actress, TV producer, song writer, radio host as well as owner of A New Dawn Natural Solutions and a contributing writer to Thrive Global where she founded the #SHEROproject. But with all these accolades, it is the riveting story of where she came from that will grip your heart.
Growing up in an abusive home, Dawn was not only enveloped by toxic relationships, she experienced sexual assault from a family member. Dawn describes a silent vibration that rippled out into her world. “Everything that happens in the home for a child sets the precedence for the future until we can awaken and change the pattern.” As an adult, challenging relationships continued but one of her biggest challenges occurred when she started a family. A pivotal moment in Dawn’s life happened after her son was born. Listen in as Dawn describes the news that made her pivot, grab her son from doctors and run to find a better way.
Dawn’s story with SHERO began from watching the Golden Globes and watching the MeToo movement unfold. Her candid perspective of the movement has women everywhere cheering for SHERO thrivers. “We need to segway out of victimhood and into SHERO-hood and THRIVE; we can send a powerful message to abusers and attackers around the world.” As Dawn continues to drive the diverse passions in her life, I am thrilled to learn about the exciting new platform Dawn is developing ~ listen in to learn more!
Personally, Dawn has given me a tremendous gift. She is the first person who I allowed to interview me about my past and I am forever grateful for her penning my story in this beautiful article in Thrive Global. As a result, I am honored to be one of twenty five brave women recognized as SHEROs February 8th at the 5th Annual B.E. A. S.H.E.R.O. Foundation Gala in Las Vegas, Nevada.
