60 Michael Kutcher – Surviving to Thriving

August 30, 2017

  • "People often say that the most harmful place for children can be the playground, and I wholeheartedly believe that… I think I’ve been called every name in the book. And they say that words can’t hurt you, but I strongly disagree."
  • "In a way, I guess I was kind of outed without wanting to be, but it’s one of the best things that ever happened in my life because it made me realize who I truly am."
  • "I went home and looked in my mirror and just felt ashamed of myself. How could I deny myself having this disability and this obstacle when there’s someone out there who's happier with less than you have?"
My guest today, Keynote Speaker & Life Thinker Michael Kutcher, has one question that he always asks his audiences; “Does anyone listening know what their purpose in life is?” While many people have yet to discover their life’s purpose, Michael’s challenges to simply survive, along with a very special person he met along the way, have brought him the clarity needed to uncover what he was destined to do.
Entering the world as a surprise, Michael was born in February 1978 as the unexpected, underweight twin of actor, Chris “Ashton” Kutcher. Michael shares the struggles his parents faced while keeping him alive over the first few months, and how as he grew older, he was diagnosed with a condition that would affect his motor skill development, speech, & eyesight. Despite these struggles, Michael shares some key moments he had with both his brother and the rest of his family that truly inspired him to keep moving forward in life.
Continuing to grow up, Michael shares how he faced a second deadly medical crisis at age 13 that required immediate action. Given a few weeks to live, Michael shares how a second opinion ultimately changed the course of events & ultimately put him in a position that allowed miracles to happen.
Given his past struggles and handicaps, Michael closes the interview sharing how he tried to hide his story for many years, but ultimately was “outed” due to his brother’s fame. He’ll share how one key meeting with a severely-disabled young girl changed the course of his life, and made him realize his life’s purpose.
I know you’ll be touched by Michael’s amazing story and how thankful he is to be a voice for those unable to share their own.
